|
|
If you feel inspired by what you've seen here, why not think about starting your own Transition Initiative? It is easy to get started, although it will take time, energy and a committment to see it through, but it will be well worth it and you'll be joining an Australia wide network of other communities working to move from oil dependency to local resilience.
Transition Sunshine Coast is happy to help you with the process of becoming a Transition Town.We represent the entire Sunshine Coast council region of 300,000 people, but are also involved in much smaller Transition Town initiatives in our own communities, so we have the experience, expertise and training skills to help you out, no matter how big or small your Transition Town is.
The UK Network has all the information you need to get started in becoming a Transition Town.
Step 1 - Visit the Transition Towns WIKI site for everything you need to know about how to join the network.
Step 2 - Take a look at the Kinsale EDAP (Energy Descent Action Plan - 1.2MB) to get an idea of what's involved in that process.
Step 3 - read the Transition Towns WIKI site Transition Initiatives Primer - you can download it here (1MB)
Step 4 - find some 'running mates'. People in your community willing to help get this exciting initiative up and running.
Step 5 - when you are ready - fill in the Transition Initiative criteria form to become an official initiative - available here
Step 6 - prepare - gather information, ideas and solutions before you head out into your community
Step 7 - start working with your community on the Transition Town 12-step plan available here
